Other than her bold, outstanding joy, something else about Daisy’s story stood out to me. Daisy strongly believes that her dog, Bella Notte, is her savior. I drew a clear parallel between my faith in God as my savior and her faith in her dog being her savior. In the beginning of the conversation, she says her dog protects her, just as Jesus protects me from the perils of the Earth. She later claims that although she was not looking for a dog and did not recognize her need for one, Bella Notte found her and saved her. Often times, this is our encounter with God. We fail to recognize that we are in need of a savior and God shows up, just in time, our superhero. Daisy also noted that Bella Notte never steers her wrong. This reminded me of how the wisdom of the Lord ceaselessly guides me in the right direction.

Even though Daisy believed she was not ready to love another dog, Bella Notte stuck by her side and, soon enough, became her best friend. Sometimes, when we have gone through hard, depressing situations in life, we tell ourselves that we don’t want God because we might make the assumption that he is the one causing the heartbreak; however, He never leaves our sides, patiently awaiting our triumphant return to His loving embrace. Bella Notte also allows Daisy to be fearless. She can go out in public and not be afraid of her medical condition. God allows us to be fearless. Because we worship Him, we do not have to fear the hatred and wrath of Satan. Finally, just as Daisy felt undeserving of the love of her sweet dog, we feel unworthy of God’s mercy and love for us. As Christians, it is necessary for us to recognize that love is enough. Our love for God makes us worthy recipients of His love and mercy. That being said, be thankful for the many ways in which God blesses you each and every day and love Him above all else.

May God Bless You and Give You Peace.
