Contrasting her dark complexion and complementing her bright eyes, Wanda’s platinum blonde tresses fell at her knees. Accompanied by her little black Chihuahua, she walked swiftly toward the worship ceremony, not wanting to miss an instant of it.
“Good morning! What’s your name?”
“Wanda, and your’s?”
“Nice to meet you! I’m Sidney! I love your hair by the way.”
“Oh! Thank you! Yours is naturally gorgeous! How are y’all doing?”
“We are great, just walking around getting to know people around here!”
“That’s great! I’m going to get some coffee and listen to some music. Are y’all coming to the church?”
“Yes, we are actually working alongside Mission Possible with another nonprofit called Austin Street Humans.”
“That’s a good thing y’all are doing.”
“Would you like to share a bit of your story with us?”
“Why of course! God has always been good to me, but you end up homeless, especially being a woman. You get married and then your husband might pass away. Sometimes it makes you fall into a funk, especially if you’re over the hill. Then, you have a whole lot of gossipers and liars, especially when you serve God, that are going to attack you, causing a lot of problems. Then, you might fall into the funk again. Then, when you get here, God gathers and helps the lost souls. Those mean people think they’re doing dirt to you, but really God put us here to help nourish their spirits. Just because you ain’t got no money, that don’t mean nothing, because if you got God, you got money, you got a house, you got all that! This situation is temporary, so we have to ask God to give us the strength to keep on. No matter what, don’t let nothing separate you from God and Jesus Christ. You know, this situation is easy and they make it hard. People make it hard because Satin is going to make the things that God wants for us hard. But, you have to realize that and stay focussed. If you listen to man, you’ll sink like the great Titanic. I can’t afford to do that so I must believe everything God says and just keep my eyes focussed. Then, people, whether you know them or not, are going to be jealous of you. They are going to hate you. Jesus said they hated Him and did horrible things to Him, so if you try and serve Him it’s going to happen to us all the time. But, since we were specially chosen, we will be under attack so we have to keep out strength in the Lord and keep praying for us. Remember, because you’re homeless, you ain’t really homeless… All this belongs to Him anyway!”
“I’m speechless. You are so right!”
“You have a wonderful day! Goodbye!”
“Thank you, Wanda! It was nice meeting you! Goodbye!”
